With stunning natural beauty and historic architecture, Santa Barbara has a wealth of beautiful venues suitable for all types of wedding ceremonies and celebrations.  The venues suggested below work well with all our wedding and elopement packages. If possible, we suggest a visit to Santa Barbara to explore your many options.  We are also happy to provide information and discuss what best suits your vision via phone or email.

Santa Barbara Courthouse

The Santa Barbara Courthouse, pictured above, is perhaps the city's most recognizable landmark, this circa-1929 structure illustrates the beauty of Spanish Revival architecture. Although it functions as a working courthouse, the building welcomes visitors to view it's impressive details. Among them are murals, tile work, beamed ceilings, decorative painting, ornate woodwork, and wrought iron fixtures.  Other notable features include manicured, sunken gardens and a clock tower that affords amazing views of the city, ocean and mountains. This location first choice for many couples looking for a memorable place to begin their married life.  This unique venue is suitable weddings of all sizes, including elopements.

*Fees apply according to the size of your wedding party.  For wedding parties of 15 or less, there is no fee to use the clocktower terrace or the perimeter gardens

Beach ceremonies by the sheer nature of the the coastal environment establish a sense of drama and casual elegance.  We suggest several beaches suitable for your Santa Barbara beach wedding. *Please note that each beach location is unique.  Different requirements and fees apply.

East Beach - Hosting panoramic city and island views, this expansive, lovely beach offers plenty of options.  For weddings with more than 40 guests, East Beach West and East Beach at Calle Puerto Vallarta are perfect spots for your wedding ceremony.  A permit with the City of Santa Barbara is required.

Butterfly Beach - Located nearby the elegant Four Seasons hotel, Butterly Beach is one of our most beautiful beaches in Santa Barbara.  The west end of the beach (by the cliffs) is ideal for weddings.  If you are having a smaller intimate wedding, this is the beach for you. Be sure to check the tide charts as there is no beach at high tide! Beach weddings in front of the Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel are highly discouraged as there is too much foot traffic and it is a very narrow beach.

Summerland Beach  - The town's name says it all: It's a classic California beach town.  Swing off the 101 at Evan Avenue, just a few miles south of Santa Barbara, to the costal enclave nestled between verdant hillsides and sparkling beaches.  One is almost always assured of viewing dolphins swimming by and horses meandering on the shore. This wide, sandy beach is only minutes away from Santa Barbara.

Sandy Cove - Sandy Cove is one of Santa Barbara's hidden jewels.  It's worth a climb down the 82 wooden stairs to this intimate spot.  Suitable for elopements or very small weddings, this beach can only be used at low tide.  Sculpted sandstone cliffs provide dramatic backdrops for ceremonies and photos! This beach is only accessible at low tide.

Ledbetter Beach & Grass Area - The Ledbetter Beach and "Grassy Area" are the perfect combination for the couple who would like to have their wedding ceremony on the beach, without the sand!  Overlooking Ledbetter beach, the grassy area has a view of the ocean, sandstone cliffs, and the sunsets are spectacular.  The picnic area can be transformed in a lovely reception venue with parking and restrooms nearby.  A city permit is required.

Santa Barbara's mild, Mediterranean climate with over 300 sunny days per year, provides a perfect environment for some world class gardens, both publicly and privately owned.  Several of our favorites that are ideal for wedding celebrations include the following:

City of SB - Park Permits

  • Alice Keck Park -  Centrally located in the City of Santa Barbara, meandering pathways and an extensive botanical collection make this park picture perfect. Have a romantic, intimate ceremony in a gazebo next to a koi pond. (no fee required) Or say your vows beneath a arbor of your choice, set in a lush grassy area, surrounded by family and friends. Suitable for wedding ceremonies up to 150 guests or intimate elopements.  (City permit and fee required)
  • Manning Park - Located in a woodsy enclave in Montecito, Manning Park provides a private environment and is a wonderful wedding location. Many deep areas of the park are far from public street.  Featuring Redwood and Oak trees, this park provides a serene and romantic  woodland setting. A hidden jewel of a park in upper Montecito  with a total of 6 areas available various sizes of celebrations.
  • Mission Rose Garden
  • Chase Palm Park
  • Both Bagish Overlook  and Homer Winslow Overlook  provide spectacular views of the pacific ocean.  SBCC Wedding Venues Permits
